Promotion of your web site is
vital. This is done in several ways.

of all there is the issue of
keywords.
You have probably already heard about this. Keywords are hidden within
your web sites design code. They are relevant to your business or
product. For example if you have a shop that sells tea cups and is
located in Hitchin, your hidden keywords (and phrases) will reflect
this, like: tea cups for sale, buy tea cups, Hitchin tea cup shop,

It takes time for a website to creep its way up the search engine rankings, so be patient. Search engines will generally put your page in a purgatory sandbox for the first three to six months to avoid spamming and any attempt by professional "optimisers" to manipulate Google's page ranking. The older your page, the more trusted it will be by search engines.
